DO NOT GET YOUR CAR INSPECTED HERE. As repeat customers in good standing, there was no reason to expect any nonsense when we did. Instead, they tried to fail us over a minor wiper blade issue — a “fail-to-pass” upsell. The blade had a tiny tear that didn’t affect operation (which they didn't test), but they used it to leverage the inspection process and push an unnecessary replacement. $25 EACH. For. wiper. blades. I assume they come with some kind of gold-plated hardware. I should also mention the hundreds of $'s in 'recommended' services they tried to shake us down for. Inspections are supposed to keep cars safe, not trap customers into parts swaps. If this is how they treat existing customers who've spent $1000's in car repairs over the years, imagine how they’ll treat someone new. It's not so much about price gouging for wiper blades, or the easily declined optional services as it is about losing yet another place I can trust with my vehicles. We won't be back, MCA II. Bottom line: We paid our 37.50 for their "failed" inspection, and I strongly recommend our neighbors find a shop that doesn’t exploit the inspection process to pad the bill. This is an unfortunate and increasingly common tactic in the auto repair industry - don't be the next victim.
Brian we do understand your frustration. Unfortunately we can not pass a vehicle that fails the safety inspection portion of the NYS Inspection. We value our customers and we would hope that they would understand that we must abide by the laws put in place.
